I am informed that either 30-50% or 40-60% is the desired humidity, depending on which source you read.

A good humidity level to maintain is between 40 and 59 percent. When the humidity rises above this percentage, it is too high. High humidity levels cause mould and bacteria to grow in the house, which is very bad for your health. Especially asthma patients will suffer a lot from this.

Last night, I dried my clothes with my new pedestal fan, instead of the dehumidifier and it worked almost as well as the dehumidifier and the humidity in the room never got above 54%.
