I was right to do so.
He was always so anti whatever song was on. It was mildly amusing at first but now it's just annoying and he really shouldn't have been presenting a pop show.
But some sources are suggesting this could be his last TOTP appearance.

I love that song. The album it's from is great too - "dull" Eric Clapton goes all 80s, and a couple of the songs include vocals from Tina Turner too!

It's no iron Maiden.
I've always liked The music of the Night, and am often heard singing the melody to myself, but Michael Crawford's vocals are a little bit limited. As a child I couldn't understand why Frank Spencer would sing opera, and to be honest I still can't.

I wonder if they'll show this video?
There is a TOTP studio performance of it which I've seen over the years - hopefully it's not on a Mike Smith episode.

I thought they'd given up by now?
Terrible sound on this. Wonder if it'll get going?
The sound quality on that did seem poor for some reason.
I've always liked the line in that, "Something something plans of a future war...was all I saw...on Channel 4".
Is that the only mention of Channel 4 in song?

'Last night the plans for a future war,' etc
Stevieborgles and I have been discussing the parody songs of Philip Pope and Steve Brown - in that oeuvre We're Always On Your TV by M-hm contains the line 'Blimey - we're on Channel 4 in a bit'.

What with this and Swing Out Sister on the charts, there's a lot of cocktail music around in 1987.

I get the feeling he thinks he's sexy.

Annoying bass player who clearly thinks he's the star of the show.

Rhymes, "Tender," with, "Bend her."
