Does your (or your parents') old car still exist?
Thanks to the wonders of the internet and the government's exciting MOT database website (that I've been using for a few years), which lists every single car that has been on the road (at least from the 70s onward), I've just discovered that the registration of the first car I remember my parents having when I was a very young child - a 1976 Chrysler Avenger - is still in existence - minus the original car which is presumed scrapped decades ago - and is now being used on a 2021 Land Rover Discovery Sport.
I won't tell you what the registration is - much as I'd like to - but I've long thought my parents should have kept it and transferred it onto subsequent cars as it was quite a unique registration with only one number before the suffix letter rather than the usual three, and is likely now very valuable as it also almost forms a known surname.
The database informs me that only my last two cars out of the eight I've previously had are still around.
Here is said government database for anyone who wants to check the status of any cars present or past:

That might be a government trap, to gather data linking IP addresses to past car ownership.

I don't have a clue what the numbers of any of our cars were.

I know they were all second hand, though.

I looked up my old one, and I think it's gone, the MOTs were getting worse towards the end.
I only knew the reg number cuz I found the pics from when I sold it.

I can remember the registrations of all of my old cars and most of my parents' cars going back to the 80s. I'm better at remembering the letters than the numbers though.

It's (almost) worth it the amount of fun I've had with looking up our old cars.

My Mum has very owned a car.
Someone told me my Dad had a Fiat Panda once.
That's all I can contribute to this thread.

I can remember the plates of the two cars we had 1975-1984, but none before or after. Even their current car I can only remember the letters.
As to my own vehicles I can only ever remember the current one.

I showed the MOT database to my friend (again) tonight and he was looking up his parents' old cars. He could remember all of their number plates going back to when he was 6 or 7, as well as the registrations of his grandad's Ford Cortina and Escorts.
Perhaps unsurprisingly none of them exist anymore.

Yes, I think so. My mother’s parents vehicles are all exempt. I have one, which is exempt from needing to have an MOT, although it obviously needs maintained and serviced. My uncle has several of the others in his possession.
My mother only ever had one car, which she sold to go and live in Italy, and I don’t know the registration of it. If she was 17 (it was her gift) then that’s 1971. The car may still exist, unless it was crashed. A Jensen Interceptor of the era seems like the kind of thing that could well still exist in someone’s collection.
I don’t know any of the reg of my father’s vehicles. Or those of his parents. I do know his parents once had a vehicle they abandoned on the forecourt at Victoria (the last reasonable thing they could use it for was to drive them to the station, sans number plates, to go on holiday - why not, saved the taxi fare, and the hassle of scrapping it themselves). This car definitely doesn’t exist. Another they told me about was set fire to in an insurance scam when they needed the money so that doesn’t exist either. I shouldn’t think any of their old cars still exist.

The car of Princess Anne and Cliff Richard.

Cliff did indeed have a Jensen, but I think that Anne had Scimitars (quite a lot of them).

Perhaps I was thinking of Eric Morcambe.

I don’t get Princess Anne. She seems like a really intimidating mother in law, unless you’re the type to be wearing a jockstrap and furnished with the latest rugby results. I do agree it’s sad she missed her calling as a PE teacher.

It seems Philip had one too…

Or maybe she lent him hers.
66 OGLE
That MOT website brings up an error message when you search for that number plate. MI5 may be on their way here. I just pray Anne isn’t doing my interrogation.

Re: Does your (or your parents') old car still exist?
The official registration would be 660 GLE, with the zero shifted to spell "0GLE". It's illegal to move and reshape number plate letters, certainly in more recent years anyway.
It does show up on the database as a 1965 silver Reliant Scimitar, but looks like it doesn't exist anymore.

It does still exist - in America!
https://www.factsdisc.com/blogs/car-of-the-month/middlebridge-scimitar-no-5It is currently in the USA and in the hands of former Ogle designer Professor Carl Olson.
