That's not a nice thing to say.
I'm surprised that didn't get edited out. I've always thought "The Walrus of Love" was a bit dodgy, but that seems to be the accepted term of endearment.

I like the way he thinks we know, or care, if that's being ironic or not.
Ironic I think, after the Chernobyl/Hang the DJ debacle.

Due to it nearly being Christmas.

Does that mean this rotten, decaying, putrefying year of pop music is almost over?
Oh, it's 88 next.

No. She comes back a year or two later with "This Time I Know It's for Real" and the follow up.

Oh! Where were you in 1986?
Something along the lines of it being on the Radio 1 news that the Chernobyl disaster had just happened, then Steve Wright played Agadoo or something equally trivial, and Morrissey was outraged enough to write a song about it - aka "Panic" (Hang the DJ).

1988 was the year I properly started watching Top of the Pops, having been a casual observer in the years beforehand.

Interesting to hear the origin story for Panic, the song that got me into the Smiths to begin with.
Also interesting that, unlike WDTBD, I spent a lot of time listening to Radio 1 in 1986, but still without finding that out.

Some weird contraption that's like the synthesizer equivalent of a Chapman Stick.
