Re: The all-new all things driving thread
I wasn't giving a certain floppy haired mayor money in advance by buying an Oyster card.
I have photos from the return journey the final time I did it. I wonder, should I start an 'all things walking' thread and post them there?

He's long gone. We have a short back and sides mayor.

Nowadays I'd just whistle up a Uber or Bolt.

I disapprove of gig workers being used by billionaires to put cabbies out of work while adding to traffic jams.

But they are cabbies. Yiu can't drive for ride sharing apps in the UK unless you are. When I undertook my momentous journey into Bolton the other week, the vehicle had proper yellow minicab plates on it. And the app told me the driver's taxi licence number as soon as I booked the journey.

Someone had left a sparkly fake pearl and diamante glove on top of the Sainsburys petrol pump I was using.

The bottle of water I keep in the car had frozen solid in the Scottish winter night. But I wasn't fased, I merely brought it indoors to improve the performance of my coolbag.

Horrifying. They don’t deserve to have it reunited with its twin. I hope you binned it, for their sake.

Oh god, that’s quite impressively cold.
When I was shopping the other day, I noticed some terracotta pots which I was going to buy until I noticed they had icy dirty water in them. But they were out in the dark part of a shaded courtyard, not inside plastic, inside a car.

Re: The all-new all things driving thread
I'm having my hair cut at 1.30, and there are all kinds of tedious diversions and roadworks to avoid on the journey. I'd better start getting ready now.

Re: The all-new all things driving thread
I can only drive this car if it’s dry - the wipers have stopped working. I was out yesterday when heavy rain started, and had to wait by the side of the road until it stopped, dry off the front window with the fleece lining of my denim jacket, then dash home at speed before it started again.

Re: The all-new all things driving thread
It was lucky I did get ready early too, because the zip on my coat stuck, and I had to step out of it and change into a spare coat I had in the car. Thus costing precious minutes.
And it rained and it blew on the journey back, my goodness.

Driving south today. And I'm starting from Perth so it's extra far this time.

That's Perth, Perthshire not Perth, WA by the way.
