Re: Re: Recent deaths of people who don't need their own threads
American singer James Ingram has died, aged 66
https://edition.cnn.com/2019/01/29/entertainment/james-ingram-dead/index.html
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Ingram
He's not particularly famous in the UK but is probably best known for three 80s hit duets - "Baby Come to Me", "Yah Mo B There" and "Somewhere Out There" - sort of like an alternative to Peabo Bryson I guess.

So that's Linda Ronstadt.

I thought we all knew what Linda Ronstadt looked like.

I mainly know her from that song she did with Aaron Neville - "Don't Know Much".

I know her only from references in popular culture - 'I got that off a Linda Ronstadt album' in Out of This World, and her appearance in the Plow King episode of the Simpsons.

Had you stopped following/taping the charts by mid 1987 when "Somewhere Out There" was in the Top 10? Although I doubt a soppy (but great in my opinion) song would have appealed to your young self!

I know her from...
...which Elvis Costello was famously not impressed by, and...
...which Blondie and the Pretenders should both have covered but never did.

I completed my final compilation tape on July 5th 1987. I suspect that I did hear SOT, but as you anticipate, it wasn't for me.

It's sad because that blowhard Yank ex-navy dude who used to come on the Skybar used to always go on about his Missus looking just like LR and then, when he suddenly died both his Missus and Daughter came onto SSC and it was true - both looked like LR at about 50 and 25 years old respectively*.
Kinda fascinating that little glimpse into a family from, where was it, New Mexico or Arizona?
His wife and daughter seemed much more liberal than he was for example.
*err, obvZ - it would've been weird the other way around...
