Song and place associations
Right now I'm listening to When The Levee Breaks, and it's really reminding me of the Birmingham stretch of the M6 northbound, where I last heard it en route to see my friend in Bolton during my summer holiday a month ago.
You know, it was that bit where they keep trying to tempt you to use the hard shoulder, in their tricksy American 'smart motorway' way, and then suddenly they go all bad cop with 'Hard Shoulder for A479 only' and you've got 800 yards to slide yourself in between two lorries in the next lane to the right. Cos otherwise you might find yourself on the A479 for the rest of eternity.
