London Live - Freeview Channel 8 seem to be showing some odd 1970s version of Brief Encounter starring Richard Burton and Sophia Loren.

The two leads were cast with "wild disregard for suitability" according to Brian McFarlane, who has described the film as "a total disaster."

According to David Shipman, reviewing Burton's career in The Great Movie Stars, this remake was "widely viewed as a ludicrous undertaking."

I'm trying to work out if he's a Scotsman who only plays Scottish rap or if he's meant to be MC Nige and they've written it down wrong.

I'm hoping it's the latter. Nothing screams "the Hood" to me more than MC Nigel.

There's no Channel 8 among my channels. There's just a big gap between 6 and 14.

But Channel Dave is there. I didn't know I could get that.

Was it anything new? It's just the same stuff updated for each news cycle, for decades. An alliance of international Jewry and the royals acting in unholy lockstep. Much like the coven of feminists, gays, and Muslims that the far right imagine act in concert, having presumably got together regularly to agree updated aims, a night at the palace has never sounded more appealing.

Perhaps if all five elements joined up we could enjoy an evening of critical conversation, with fun music and fabulous food, in beautiful surroundings.
