Man speaking again.
The end.
That was beeping awesome, with magnificent orchestration that brought to mind the romantic era of Hollywood.
It is very much a transitional album, capturing the moment between the rough, home-made nature of their early albums and the big production of their later albums. And, with bits that sounded like the Beatles, bits that sounded like Roy Orbison and bits that sounded like Bob Dylan, it practically predicted the rise of the Travelling Wilburys, over a decade later. 100/10.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everyone else made of it.

It seems to be set in a land where mythical figures, such as Ivanhoe, King Arthur and Robin Hood are real people. There also seems to be some kind of storyline woven through it, involving either one character having multiple bouts of realisation, or multiple characters each having a moment of realisation.WhatDoesThisButtonDo? wrote:I can't work out how this is a concept album.
Mind you that was quite common back then.

I'd need to listen to it on headphones in a dark room.
One day.

It was one of three consecutive ELO albums that failed to chart in Britain, despite charting in America.
That was then followed by a run of four albums which went platinum in Britain.

Did you see why the first album was called 'No Reply' in America?

I expect to be trying to tackle ELO's first ever album, at 9 o'clock tonight.
