i dunno, I went to Clacton once, to exercise the car, on Late Spring Bank Holiday, 9am, lovely sunny day, place was deserted, I could have parked on the road right by the pier for no pounds nuppence and stayed all day. There was nothing horrific about that.

I went to Loutraki for a weekend to myself one mid December and horrific sums it up well. It was like Pripyat-on-Sea but more disturbing.

Very good. Very apt.

It was deserted. Some small boys threw rocks at me when I was on a swing, so I went to the harbour where I watched a small fishing boat sinking. It was a sorry sight. My phone was dead and I couldn't see anyone anywhere so that was that.

I hiked up a hill to look for a hotel/bar/restaurant open. There were none. But there was a landslide, so there may have been beyond that and I was merely blocked from accessing them.

Back in the town centre, a bar done out as a Bavarian style hunting lodge (presumably geared towards German tourists) was open. It was empty so I sat down feeling very bleak when I heard a small voice calling out.

I looked round, nobody there, again the voice called out. Feeling frightened, I was about to run from the premises when an Albanian dwarf wearing lederhosen appeared and said he'd been asking what I wanted to drink.

Him and the kids were the only people I saw in my whole visit. I was waiting at that bus stop about four hours early so I didn't miss the only means of escape.
