I'm very fond of Nightjar, with his creative spelling, talent for creating murals which I have as my screensaver at work, and willingness to stand outside Smokers Junction for months on end on the off-chance that I might wander off course when walking to Hammersmith and bump into him.

In appreciative memory of Grandpa Nightjar, who now has no pain and no discomfort.

Nightjar himself said something very comforting to me the day my grandmother died, which I also used to comfort other family members when they were feeling the full blankness of being left behind, alive.

Somehow, this thread hasn't gone quite the way I hoped it would. I hope everyone's going to be friends again by the end of the night.

Much like myself, Nightjar is a person of passions. Let's hope the coming week is a little easier for him and his mum than the last few have been, and that this marks a broadly upward emotional momentum.

How are you getting on with all this? If you don't feel like saying, feel free to ignore the question. I can't imagine how horrible it must be to be going through all of this with all these restraints (and I touch wood I don't find out).

He obviously knew he was very much loved, so that's probably the main thing that matters. The rest isn't unimportant - as I know from us throwing everything up to the kitchen sink at my grandparents funerals. 

You got to have those loving conversations, things you needed to say, apologies you meant to provide for years old instances of callow youth, time to offer him. Again, I know how grateful I was to have had that. 

Perhaps in the longer term it will be nicer than a funeral to go somewhere he loved, and have a family day out there in his honour when the lockdown eases and summer temperatures make things seem less bleak.

Is he still missing? Hopefully he's just having an Easter break featuring tranquillizers, and will return refreshed on Tuesday.

If he's still missing in a couple of days time, we can think further of what to do. I could call. After that I suggest the Royal Free, St Mary's, and UCL as the nearest and therefore most likely hospitals.

I think he's most probably just having an Easter break, well earned after several hellish months.
