Strange pronunciations
I meant to say this at the time of initial broadcast. Flicking through the channels there, that Hull caravan woman on Gogglebox is saying lie-lack instead of lilac. It sounds very odd. Is that normal in the Hull area?
Hopefully we can use this thread to discuss unexpectedly diverse ways of saying lilac and other words.

Re: Strange pronunciations
I don't know how they say "lilac" in Hull but I once saw an American film in which they kept pronouncing it, "Lie-lock."

Oh how annoying. I find their use of zee rather than zed pretty grating.
