A discussion somewhere on SSC suggested that the word "marmalise", a word I'm certainly familiar with and have used myself, is local to Liverpool and was made popular by Ken Dodd in the 60s.

To destroy something or somebody: "I'm going to marmalise him" - ie kill/hurt them - in a sort of joking way I might add. I remember it being said a lot (by me and others) during my computer games-playing years in the 90s.

I wouldn't have expected that. I was thinking it might be something you do in the kitchen. Cooking, baking, marmalising.
