These guys/kids are basically the arch, post-Isaak, cod-Lynchian hipster version of Bros.

Didn't like it. Did prefer the 50s bits, mostly the intros. Production was outstanding. Didn't like his SHOUTY voice.

That is a fantabulous album, filled with great tunes, energetic performances and great arrangements. The only track I'd cut from it is that Osmonds cover which is clearly the weakest track of the album.

Now to look back at the thread and see what everyone else made of it.

Product line - FAIL!

Not incompetent obviously, but devoid of charm and a sense that there was anything new or vital happening.

I bet they tear it up live on the pub circuit, but that doesn't translate to the studio setting and the subsequent hopeful/half-arsed/hopeless push a wary record company will give a band like this.

I really really badly hated the main singer's voice BTW.

It was torturous to hear.

I nearly gave the album one star because of it, but because I'm not an entirely loathsome monster (IMO) I decided against it.

Still, there are some undeniably better, more significant and influential albums that have rated lower than it during the RC era.
