New rules announced for recycling glass and cans in Colchester
That is currently the number 1 most popular story on the website. It concerns the momentous news that you'll have to have separate boxes for glass and cans from June.

Different park, another dead person

Of course it's not actually my local news any more.
It's local to my storage units I suppose.

Admittedly, this is from 10 years ago, but I just discovered it by random when searching for something else:

Speaking outside her home in Brunswick Park Road, in Wednesbury, West Midlands, the 77-year-old said: ‘I could not even get out my front door on Monday it was so bad. I had to go round the back.

I can get a paper copy of the Glasgow Evening Times now.
If I want to read about people punching each other outside kebab shops, breaking into pharmacies and moaning about how long it takes to queue for the dump.

Re: Is your local news rubbish?
Zarnichester has many good qualities but yes, its dump queuing times were sub-sub-standard. When I was clearing out my house I drove half the rubbish to Chelmsford and dumped it there, cos it was quicker.

West Midlands legend Bob Warman has retired from ITV Central News after nearly 50 years!
https://www.expressandstar.com/news/local-hubs/walsall/2022/07/04/bob-warman-beamed-on-new-street-station-after-bowing-out-after-49-years-presenting-the-news/Bob Warman beamed on New Street Station after bowing out after 49 years presenting the news
A galaxy of stars, from Ozzy Osbourne to Chris Tarrant, and Rustie Lee to Adil Ray recorded messages for Bob as did members of the public recorded in his home town of Walsall.

Well that's not rubbish. He sounds like a stalwart who's covered everything from celebrities to local fetes for half a century. Probably one of those comforting types that several generations of people know by face, voice, name, and work. I find that send off by the West Midlands to him rather touching.

That's fab.
Further up the street and over the other side looks pretty normal. It's just her bit that's gone to rack and ruin. Lazy cow.

I posted it in here due to the "local news" bit rather than the "rubbish" bit. I remember him from when I was a child. On rival BBC Midlands Today the main host is Nick Owen of TV-am and..... other things fame.

Re: Is your local news rubbish?
I read that as 'Bob Warman banned from New St Station', assuming he'd got drunk at his leaving party and committed an indiscretion on the platform on his way home.

Still? Or to begin with? I can't picture him but thought he did the national news.

Still.
There are two Nick Owens - the one who presented TV-am with Anne Diamond (who is the one still on BBC Midlands Today)
and the one who I think read the national news on ITV.

I have a brilliant vision in my mind of everyone pilling those leaves up outside her door every night when she's asleep...it's what I would do.
Rather than the mundane explanation of it being in the lee of the wind.
Or could it be Aliens?
