cosmictanya wrote:Yes, Cleveden - that was it. It was a really hot day, the only place to cool down was the floor in a branch of Safeway or Somerfields - one of those two. The beach under the pier looked like mud, which was close enough to me - then it was back for another rest on the supermarket floor.
Yes, a section of that part of the coast is very muddy. Plus you have to pay to even enter the old pier at Clevedon!

I don't remember paying to get on the pier. It's quite possible I simply refused to entertain their demand for money.

I've been to Clevedon twice and didn't venture onto the pier either time for that very reason!

I didn't realise free piers were the default. You have to pay to go on Southend pier.

I believe all of Blackpool's piers are free as I've wandered casually onto them in the past, and Weston-super-Mare too. I don't want to have to pay for something I might only be on/in for 10 minutes if there's not much else to do or see on there!

Ullapool for me, just beats Gothenburg, although I have been over Greenland on a flying machine.

Me three. The irony of flying over Iceland and Greenland to get to Florida. But that was when there was that volcanic ash cloud and we got diverted over yonder.
