Re: What's the temperature and/or humidity in your house?
When it arrives, I shall report the results for my various rooms.

I shall be very disappointed if my humidity levels are within acceptable ranges.

I was on the second count. And once I'd SDS chisel drilled the offending render off the bricks, the RH in the living room returned to acceptable levels, and soon afterwards I was able to sell house wi out buyer raising a peep about damp issue. He knocked me down 5k on account of a whole load of other nonsense, but that would have happened anyway. And I escaped north with the purchase money and sporadic Wilfred Pickles Diction Syndrome.

This is exciting. We can all now start reporting our humidity levels.

Funnily enough, my first post in it included the current humidity in July 2021.

The humidity is 54% so I think about average.

Re: What's the temperature and/or humidity in your house?
I think my hygrometer was around 40% humidity before I left, with the heating on which dries everything out. I remember one time it was in the low 30s percent a few years ago - the lowest I've ever seen it - with the heating on and perhaps icy weather which keeps the humidity low.
The modern house in which I reside these days is much, much drier than the previous Edwardian one which had occasional damp corners and such.

Re: What's the temperature and/or humidity in your house?
It is 19 C, 76% RH here.
My old house typically showed 85-95% humidity before I sorted out the render. Afterwards it went more into the 70-75% range.

My hygrometer was supposed to arrive yesterday. It still hasn't turned up.

It's got a tracking code but it's one of those stupid Royal Mail ones that does nothing but tell you when it's arrived.

On the temperature front, it is currently 19 degrees in my domicile.
I have my boiler's flow temperature set to 35 degrees and the thermostat in the hallway set to 14 degrees.
I think I've broken the laws of Physics.

Re: What's the temperature and/or humidity in your house?
My hygrometer has arrived!
And it has a thermometer built in.
Here are the initial results:
Main bedroom - 56% humidity. 19.8 degrees.
Spare bedroom - 52% humidity. 19.2 degrees.
Store room - 50% humidity. 20.3 degrees.
Bathroom - 58% humidity. 18.1 degrees.
Kitchen - 52% humidity. 15.8 degrees.
Living room - 50% humidity. 16.6 degrees.
Upstairs landing - 53% humidity. 18.4 degrees.
Downstairs hallway - 53% humidity. 17.1 degrees.
Now I can't justify buying a dehumidifier.
Then again, if I did buy one, I wouldn't have to worry about the running costs, as it'd never be on.

I've just opened the window air vent in the main bedroom, to see what it does to the temperature and humidity in it.

After one hour of having the air vent open, these are the latest figures:
53% humidity. 19.7 degrees.
It's reduced the humidity but not the temperature.

Re: What's the temperature and/or humidity in your house?
Thanks for your hygrometer study, Wendi. All seems okay.
Fangirl's humidities seem a little high to me with heating on and when it's dry outside.
According to some brief research I've seen "ideal" relative humidity as being either 30-50% or 40-60%.
Mine was in the 70s percent at times over the autumn, before the heating went on. In the previous house it would often be in the mid 80s.

https://www.smartdry.co.uk/humidity-in-the-house/Typically, In Winter humidity should be kept between 40% and 50% and in Summer between 35% and 55% for maximum comfort.
https://www.idealhome.co.uk/news/humidity-house-190521Any reading above 60% and it'd be strongly advisable to take steps to address the problem.
