The heating didn't come on at all, overnight. Thus rendering my experiment pointless.The Call of the Wendigo wrote:In other news, at midnight, I shall be turning all my radiators on full and the thermostat on low but leaving all the interior doors open, so that the heat level throughout the house equalises, to see what affect that has on the effectiveness of my heating.
When I got up, the upstairs temperature was 17 degrees and the humidity was 55%.
Downstairs, the temperature was 15 degrees.
I have now turned the thermostat up by one degree but with the other settings unchanged.

It plummeted to 17 degrees, overnight, despite the heating being on.
Humidity at 58%.

Fangirl's humidities seem a little high to me with heating on and when it's dry outside.
I put this to my mum, whose house this is, and she said it's probably on account of having a gas cooker.

Oh that's interesting. Though I don't want to startle anyone's parents with my personal observations.

Re: What's the temperature and/or humidity in your house?
Despite having my normal settings, the temperature in this room is only 18 degrees, instead of its usual 19 degrees.

Humidity at 59%.
I think that's down to the temperature drop.

I may need to raise my flow temperature to compensate.
It is currently 35 degrees.

If I turned it up to 36 degrees, I wonder if that would increase the temperature in this room by 1 degree?

I've set all my radiators in the house to 19 degrees. The heating was left on overnight. I shall be going round, later, to see if a flow temperature of 35 degrees has been able to achieve it.
I shall report back on my findings.

So far, it has cost me £1.12 in gas.
That would work out at £2.74 for a 24 hour spell.
I would expect it to be slightly less than that, as the daylight hours shouldn't need to use as much gas and, once the house gets up to temperature, the boiler should fire less often.

I have discovered that, if I put the one bar heater on in this room, the humidity plummets by 5-6 points within ten minutes and then stays there.
This costs 1.8 pence in electricity.

I may buy a cheap portable electric heater and try it in every room of the house to see if it works everywhere.

The results are in:
Bedroom = 19 degrees.
Storage room = 18.1 degrees.
Spare bedroom = 17.8 degrees.
Bathroom = 17.5 degrees.
Landing = 17.5 degrees.
Hallway = 18 degrees.
Kitchen = 17 degrees.
Living room = 16.5 degrees.
Gas used, so far, today: £1.25.
That would work out at £2.60 for 24 hours.

C'mon it's Xmas! Turn it up (half a degree anyway, I'm not made of money)
