Air conditioners convert the humidity in a space and convert it to cool air before recycling it and blowing it out.

Fans just push the same hot air about.

Bit like fans generally, eh, eh?

Goodness me it was hot when I was driving yesterday. And I had to have the fan on all night at the hotel. The room was substandard too, though that wasn't directly to do with the weather.

A roadside inn in Algeria once told me (at night, hours after I'd arrived, paid, settled my stuff etc) that it was extra for airconditioning at night. I laughed. They didn't. I paid - it was twice the cost of the room (which itself included dinner and breakfast).

By the time I got to Lesmahagow yesterday it was only 15 C, but still sunny. A delicious contrast to Friday.
