At the moment Google Maps keeps putting me on the west side of Coventry. But at least that's a bit more accurate than being put in the usual Bedford or Lewisham shopping centre or the Isle of Sheppey.

Aren't people saying 'get in the bin' nowadays instead? I think some drama warrior on Twitter chose to interpret 'get in the sea' as a threat to drown them.

I wouldn't know, the class of people I frequent with wouldn't use the language of the gutter.

It's now putting me near Swansea.

I'm hotspotting on my other phone today, and GM has made quite an accurate guess, placing me on the northbound sliproad part of the Kingston Bridge in Glasgow, about 15m from the north bank of the Clyde.

It's still about five miles from where I actually am, but it's a good try. Usually they are only even close when I'm at my parents' house.

It now thinks I'm in Ely in Cambridgeshire - I've never even set foot in Cambridgeshire!

I drive through Cambridgeshire very often, but I generally only actually set foot at Cambridge services on the A14, where I stop for a w*e and to check whether the M11 is blocked.

Currently GM has me in the right town, but in a grubby communal parking area on an estate on the other side of town where I've never been, about 2 miles from my actual location at my parents' house.

GM is getting better, it has me at the Enterprise Car Club in Scotland St in Glasgow. It's about 6 miles from where I actually am, but I've driven right past there loads of times.

This morning Google Maps has me in the middle of the river Thames, about 130m from Cleopatra's Needle and a little bit closer to Waterloo Bridge.

Which is about 350 miles from where I actually am.

It has me in KFC on Queen's Road, Sheffield.

Fried chicken blocks me solid

The moment has passed and I no longer fancy fried chicken.

For the last few days when I loaded Google Maps it has been showing me a zoomed out map of the entirety of London, but today it has me exactly where I am for the first time in months!
