Where I currently am in the West Midlands, Google Maps keeps showing me as being in either Croydon or Edgware.

Just what is going on around there?

I had to pay £5 yesterday for the hotel premium wifi, so Google knows where I am.

OR DOES IT? The label in the centre of the map has the correct hotel name (and a 4½ star review which I think is wildly optimistic, but that's not for now) - but the location is 500m down the road from where the hotel actually is.

The building that's there is actually quite mysterious. I grew up on a housing estate similar to the one in this area, and there there were two or three big houses that were in place before the estate was built, and which were accessed up drives which came out between the estate houses. It's like one of those.

But it's very large and modern to be such a house. I wonder if that's where the hotel used to be, and the one I'm actually in - which is a very new build - replaced it?

I'll post a picture once I'm gone from here (I'm not coming back, because the mobile reception is so poor).

Yesterday it thought I was in Coventry; today it has put me in the middle of Milton Keynes.

Those poor people, they must’ve been furious and devastated by the development around their idylls. I think in those circumstances, once I’d convinced the other two neighbours to bankrupt themselves on legal fees in the hopes that I’d benefit too without having to pay out, once the tipping point of inevitability had occurred, I’d try to sell to the developers for the highest current price.

I forgot my picture promise - but the map has been corrected since I posted, and now I can't find the mystery building.

Today GM has me at what I think is its default location for my phone hotspot, the premises of Inclusive Technology which seem to be located in a wheat field near a place called High Offley, near Eccleshall, near Stafford.

Google Maps currently has me in Bedford!

Isn't that where the Daleks dug their mine in that movie?

Did they have shovel attachments?
