Spector vs. Rector?

Some people can get away with it.

It's a Clavinet.
I was listening for the vibraslap - a hand-hit percussion instrument.
Did you hear it?
I only heard and wrote down each time I heard it.
I think I was imagining some kind of weird late '70s cross between a syndrum and keytar.
If you'd just said "boingy ball attached by a flexible bit of bent metal to a clacky wooden bit" then I'd've'd known what you were on about.

Re: Ronnie Spector - Siren (1980)
It is over.
It was very enthusiastic but I couldn't help feeling it was a bit too enthusiastic. An occasional bout of subtlety wouldn't have gone amiss, as it was like being hit repeatedly over the head for 36 minutes.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everybody else made of it.

I liked it.
It was spirited, faintly inebriated sounding and aptly raucous.

Re: Ronnie Spector - Siren (1980)
Well, that wasn't quite what I was expecting. Too many distorted harsh guitars like an Oasis record for my liking and her voice got a bit much after the first song the first few songs. The best bit was definitely the tribute to herself at the end and left me simply wanting to hear those Ronettes songs in full instead!

Now I've re-heard those snippets of Be My Baby etc. I can think that she does have a raspy voice in that, I've just never really noticed it before.

I do know what a so-called 'vibraslap' is.
I just know it by the professional industry name of "boingy ball attached by a flexible bit of bent metal to a clacky wooden bit".

I've known the name vibraslap for 30 years.
