The TV technology thread Empty The TV technology thread

Post by Fangirl Three Thu Sep 27, 2018 9:03 pm

I've just ordered a modern television, more than twice the size of my existing 1998 model. With the old one I had begun to have to keep getting up and standing closer to the screen to see what was happening.   eye crazy

The new one will not only allow me to see New New Doctor Who on the 7th, but it will, additionally, in theory allow me to watch the new series of OITNB via Netflix. But I expect that last feature not to work, I'm keeping my expectations low to avoid disappointment.

I am still very short of money. Therefore, I am going to buy a TV license in order to watch the new series of Dr Who on the iPlayer and then cancel my license the moment it ends. Excited

I didn't think you could do that. I thought once you'd bought one, you were stuck for the year?

You download a form from the licensing site, fill it in, send it off and they refund you for the months that you won't be needing the license for. happy

I wonder if I should sort the licence out now, or wait till the telly arrives? The former might put a jinx on my delivery.

My telly fell off the upturned cardboard box table it sits on at the end of the bed a while ago and it left the top right of the screen with a milky white patch that was visible when there was a dark bit in a programme. :(

But then one night several weeks later when I was in a drunken coma asleep I accidentally kicked the telly over again and when I woke up and realised and turned it on again the white patch had magically fixed itself. happy

I'd knock it over again. It might turn into a 3D TV. Excited
