The TV technology thread
I've just ordered a modern television, more than twice the size of my existing 1998 model. With the old one I had begun to have to keep getting up and standing closer to the screen to see what was happening.
The new one will not only allow me to see New New Doctor Who on the 7th, but it will, additionally, in theory allow me to watch the new series of OITNB via Netflix. But I expect that last feature not to work, I'm keeping my expectations low to avoid disappointment.

Re: The TV technology thread
I am still very short of money. Therefore, I am going to buy a TV license in order to watch the new series of Dr Who on the iPlayer and then cancel my license the moment it ends.

I didn't think you could do that. I thought once you'd bought one, you were stuck for the year?

Not to mention all the other ways in which TV has no doubt improved since I last saw it in July 2011

You download a form from the licensing site, fill it in, send it off and they refund you for the months that you won't be needing the license for.Fangirl Three wrote:The Call of the Wendigo wrote:I am still very short of money. I wonder if I should sort the licence out now, or wait till the telly arrives? The former might put a jinx on my delivery.

I'd wait till I have the TV, just to be on the safe side.

My telly fell off the upturned cardboard box table it sits on at the end of the bed a while ago and it left the top right of the screen with a milky white patch that was visible when there was a dark bit in a programme.
But then one night several weeks later when I wasin a drunken coma asleep I accidentally kicked the telly over again and when I woke up and realised and turned it on again the white patch had magically fixed itself.
But then one night several weeks later when I was

Re: The TV technology thread
I've just made my new television work.
But there's nothing worth watching.
I've got the strangest feeling of deja vu.
