I did a census of my cardboard boxes in storage last week, I have 381 of them.

I need to nip down to the recycling centre, I've got an old kettle that blew up, some batteries, but not that much cardboard, I could help Wendykin's Cardboard problem.
But I won't.
But I won't.

In a very real sense, tearing them apart did feel like "me" time.cosmictanya wrote:I thought you said ‘this means I’m going to take some me time to get rid of them’.

Well done and good luck.
Without getting too political, I was driving through Tipton yesterday - former Betty Boothroyd territory - and there were Labour signs on just about every lamppost. A bit further down the road I started noticing Reform UK signs underneath the Labour ones. And then yet further on there was a man up a stepladder putting up one of the Reform UK signs. He was doing it just as it was going dark.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone actually putting up these signs before, they usually just appear.
It's probably a bit late for this time, but maybe this is a future strategy for you.

Great tip there - if you want to kick the ladder away from those people putting up those ones, go out at dusk. Make like Butterfield’s hit and run in Tipton Town.

Thank you I will add, I have done this literally on a self-funded and limited budget. Only 1000 leaflets were delievered across a large ward (with some help), used a Twitter account to promote myself and the newspaper article happened by chance. Posters, the budget didn't stretch far and we're only a minor party with six active members. Do I expect victory? No. I think I'll do top 10 (out of 13 candidates) but done more than some of the others bar the incumbent Lib Dems councillors who will win and get in.
I am not sure if it's allowed? I never saw any down in Weston or in Bristol. I'm looking to do the General Election, but not sure whether to do Bristol South (where I reside) or another Bristol constituency, but we get the cash off head office then. Mad isn't it.

You know, I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't read your original post properly, NDN1984, and had therefore assumed you were standing for the R****m Party.
Good luck.
Good luck.

I’m still looking for the R****m candidate in the Midlands to turn up on television, in traction, saying ‘I was putting up some posters last weekend when the last thing I saw was a red haired man pootling towards me in a hatchback singing along to Dani Minogue’s Greatest Hits’.

Re: What's happening in your life? Part 3
I had a wonderful day out yesterday. I was going into Glasgow to get my hair cut, and I accidentally went an hour early, so I used up the time by going round the Gallery of Modern Art. There's a public library branch in the basement, and I got talking to the library assistant, who took pity on me for not having a local address and issued me with a genuine Glasgow library card.

Re: What's happening in your life? Part 3
That sounds lovely.
I didn't get in. I got 59 votes and came 13th (last). For a minor party, no budget, little attention and a small campaign - this is fantastic.
The count did take the Mickey. It took ages to verify the results so at 1815 with no result, I went into the city centre to meet the other candidate and an associate for a drink. I didn't know my result til 8PM! My feet hurt. I'm doing it again, but an ambition of mine was to be a candidate in a big city election.
