STAN LEE DEAD AT 95.

Stan Lee, the man who co-created Marvel Comics, has died, his daughter tells TMZ.

An ambulance rushed to Lee's Hollywood Hills home early Monday morning and he was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he died.

Lee started Marvel with Jack Kirby in 1961, with The Fantastic Four. He went on to co-create Spider-Man, Black Panther, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men, Iron Man and The Avengers.

Stan made cameo appearances in all of the Marvel movies.

Lee had a rocky relationship with Marvel once the company went full-tilt Hollywood. He sued them, in 2002, for royalties he said were owed for the first "Spider-Man" movie. He settled the case for $10 million.

I know him only through an issue of Viz where they did 'Stan Lee presents Billy "Banana" Johnson', and instead of the usual style, Billy's adventure was all huge dramatic closeups.

Also, in real life, there was some murky story about the way his family have been treating him over the last few years.

Oh yes I heard about that too. I warmed to Stan Lee, thanks to this forum as he featured so often.

I know very little about comics. Literally only last year I found out that Deadpool(?) wasn't actually Spiderman, the latter who I certainly know of. I thought these films were Spiderman with a new, more modern look.

It's all a daft argument. Comics are a collaborative process and it's obvious that all three (and others) were needed for those comics to exist. Also, all three liked to take credit for the ideas of others.
