Re: Happy New Year!
Make the most of it. Soon enough we will be back in the roaring 20s.
I actually remember Jan 1st 1990, saying to a friend how futuristic it sounded to be in the 90s. We were looking forward to buying our very own flying cars before we reached 25.

Re: Happy New Year!
It's like nothing noteworthy has happened for the last 19 years because we all know it sounds so stupid saying the noughties and the teens. Those names never caught on.
Scary thinking less than a year and we will be in the 2020s.

Re: Happy New Year!
And we'll be looking back on the first fifth of this century, with 2020 vision.

That should be pronounced, "Twenty Twenty," not, "Two Thousand and Twenty," in case anyone didn't get the joke.

I can't believe 1999 was 20 years ago and that 2000 was nearly two decades ago. I still sort of feel like it's the late 90s.

I shall be continuing to use the 'two thousand [and]' spoken form this year
Re: Happy New Year!
It's funny how the way we say the year still hasn't settled down and both ways are used. I think I myself use both.

Happy Mid Year's Day, everyone!

Re: Happy New Year!
It was surprisingly low key, last night. All the fireworks died out after about 20 minutes and I didn't hear a single person outside shouting "Happy new year!" like I usually do.
