Re: The official turning the lights on at home thread
9:25 at night and I've just put the lights on.

It's still light outside, though.

Yes, it was light for ages yesterday evening, I had to close my curtains at 8.20pm because the sun was shining in too brightly.

I've had to turn the lights on, even though it's only just gone 8 o'clock.

I've had to put the light on.
In the middle of June.
At 6:38 pm.

I've just had to turn the light on - and it's not even 8 o'clock.

Yes, I noticed yesterday that it was still dark at 5am, and getting dark at 8pm.

When I opened my curtains at 5.15 this morning the street lights were still on.
As the guest room is the same room as my teenage bedroom, I had the strangest feeling that I had to go and do my paper round.

Was it quite a nice feeling? Sometimes in the morning, I wish I was about to put my uniform on and wander off for a day at primary school.

It is quite a positive feeling, like it's autumn 1984 and there are new songs to hear on the radio and exciting presents to look forward to getting at Christmas.
Though if I keep thinking about it too long I start remembering what being at school was actually like, and being glad it's 2022 and I just have to spend the day remote working.

Your earlier post jogged my own memories, which were more what I had in mind rather than anything hellish.
I remember one very sunny but frosty morning - one of those perfectly sparkling winter days that are becoming so rare - a very large puddle in the playground had frozen over, large enough for lots of us to skate about on. We were given an extra 15 minutes or so after the bell had rung, to continue playing on it in case it thawed by morning playtime. It hadn't - although it was unskateable by the lunchtime.
It's situations like that I'd like to find myself in now.

It's 4:33. I've had to turn the lights on because it's so dark from the thunderclouds.

I had to turn the lights in the kitchen on at 9:48 when I made a cup of tea. It's a darksome drizzly day.

It's just after noon and I've still got the lights on

I had to turn the lights on at 4:42. Is this what it feels like to wave goodbye to the summer?
