Hardy Fox, co-founder and chief musical mastermind, of The Residents has died aged 73. bawl

The Residents were the first 'mature' band I became a fan of - I was in reality obsessed by them - when I was an adolescent and proved to be a key influence on me in every creative area of my life as an artist.

The band - as it exists these days (effectively just Homer Flynn now) was due to play in London next February and I sincerely hope they still do.

Goldman began as a novelist and transitioned to writing scripts, with Masquerade in 1965. While his greatest hits were Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and All The President’s Men, he wrote Marathon Man, The Princess Bride, Flowers For Algernon, The Stepford Wives, The Great Waldo Pepper, A Bridge Too Far, Chaplin and Misery.

He also did script doctoring on films that included A Few Good Men and Indecent Proposal.

Buzzcocks lead singer Pete Shelley has died at 63 of a suspected heart attack.

Shelley died on Thursday in Estonia where he was living.

I'm all cut up.

Pete Shelley was a wonderful man.

A great songwriter, a great wit, a man of culture, a man of many sides, a great Northerner, a great pioneer of gay cultural identity in the punk and post-punk milieu.

Diminutive, slight, but brave and brilliant.

God bless him.

I love Pete Shelley.
