Two unsettling ones recently.

This year, my tree has been themed with flight. Gold sparkly birds, gold sparkly butterflies, gold sparkly planes, gold sparkly unicorns taking off. I then dreamt that all these airbound features had flown off with my Christmas tree and everything else I own. I woke up practically sobbing at what I thought was the sky.

There was another unsettling one which I can't now recall.

I dreamt last night that I had COVID and was in hospital struggling to breathe. But when I woke up I could breathe fine, and my oxygen saturation was 99%.

An unsettling dream development. I've started to have nightmares involving a man, where I wake up screaming. The threat feels real during phase one.

The first saw me wake up screaming myself hoarse, at the sight of a man coming at me with a knife. He advanced up the bedside at me.

Another saw me wake up while trying to repress the scream, as a man with a large old fashioned camera took photographs of me asleep.

In related sleep news, my new bed is so high that I keep misjudging the logistics of getting out of it. I've twice stumbled so hard I've hit my head on the wall.

Are you suggesting I have a head injury of such severity that my subconscious has become disturbed?

I came here to report not a dream of my own, but of my mothers. I rang her this morning not all that early, and she babbled away that she'd only just got to bed because she'd been up partying all night in her living room with Prince Andrew, Diana Ross, and a man called Alan. When I asked her what the f*** she was on and who on earth Alan might be, she came to a bit more and immediately had no real recollection of what she'd just said to me. Must've still been asleep when she answered.

I dreamt that nuclear war had broken out and that the flash was burning through my curtains and duvet. I woke up shouting 'Don't look at the flash!'

Luckily it was just our neighbour getting ready to go out at 4am and turning his headlights on.

(He's a postman so he is constantly coming and going at odd hours).

Last night, I dreamt I was at home when a nuclear missile went off just outside Sheffield. Then one went off in Manchester, and all the emus escaped from the local zoo because of it and the zookeepers were running around in the street, outside, trying to recapture them.

I had a dream I've had twice before, involving a drive through the night to buy rugelach from a Hasidic rabbi in a car park in North Manchester. Once again, the drive itself was tiring due to being fraught with police cars waiting to stop me, so I was creeping along hidden between lorries etc, in between caning it to get ahead whenever I could. The Staffordshire border had speed trap spikes across the carriageway, so I had to come off and detour through several villages before rejoining the motorway further on.
