You've either never gone to bed late enough or ever got up a bit too early.

This is pure, unadulterated filler.

I particularly like the bit about the sun sinking like a ship. It reminds me of the bit about the sun looking good going down over the sea in It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry.

It would be nice to assume that's because it's filled with musical variation and surprising twists and turns.
I suspect it's not.

It's basically going to be nine minutes of one verse repeated endlessly, isn't it?

This is a prime example of how Bob can keep you engrossed in a song that has a limited musical appeal but that has a dreamlike, elliptical narrative akin to a light-hearted Sam Peckinpah film.

This song was my greatest post-1991 Bob discovery.

There's a verse in the official lyrics which Bob doesn't sing on the album.

It should be added that I was brought up on Bob Dylan - and particular this LP.
My Mum was obsessed with him.
I grew up from a very young age immersed in these strange, rambling pseudo-Wild West shaggy dog tales.
