I've been working really hard again. For 10 days in a row. And a vital change that I have to make live was obstructed by the new Change Control Committee because 'they don't know what it's on about.'
And when I complained, my line manager told me off for using exclamation marks because it was 'rude'.
Thank vod for godka.

To be fair to them, it is in some contexts. As an employee I'd have thought twice and would be prepared to defend the usage if I had felt strongly enough to keep it there. As an employer I'd very probably ring to say something!

You're generally quite reliable on these practical interactional questions. So maybe he had a point then.

Thank you. To be fair to you too, how he asked might place you back on the moral high ground. Any sort of technology other than the telephone would be inappropriate, in my very strongly held opinion.

An exclamation mark is one step down from CAPS for many in the dry world of, er... proper jobs.
Next time just type something like "I have no idea what you ƒå*¢√∂~g lot are F!@£&$IΩg on about you bunch of shø††in Cu∑ts.

Some of us have to earn a living Nightjar. We can't all flog an ancestral work of art to pay the casino bills in Monte Carlo.

He emailed me back saying 'Please do not use exclamation marks.'
So I went on for a paragraph saying how in the circumstances, what with working last weekend and all, maybe an exclamation mark or two was justified, but then said as he wasn't on the Committee of Ignorance and it wasn't his fault, I'd do as he asked.
I didn't mean it though, I was if anything even crosser that he'd tried to dictate to me on matters of style.

Re: What's happening in your life? Part 2
A difficult situation has arisen, as I knew it would. While the school is talking about the middle of the month at least before they consider some classes, his football team coach manager person has announced a get together and resuming of all that. Announced directly to all the team people. I was earlier informed in passing.
I've rung this halfwitwhich I'm absolutely loathe to do at the best of times due to it just encouraging him, re: texts and late night calls, us having had sex on three or four occasions to ask him to rethink but I don't think it's likely. All he said really was an interjection during my reading out of a prewritten list of concerns and facts...
"Tanya, can I tempt you out of social distancing? X (his wife) and the kids are still away staying with her mum in Basingstoke so my place is good to go'.
I said 'Just stop announcing things without asking first'. Several texts, unchecked, have arrived since I hung up. I could do without X on the doorstep - I believe in the States the term is 'hockey mom'. She loves a waterproof tabard squeezed over her obscenely large knockers, accessorized with a whistle. She could probably snap my neck without much effort.

Ignore it/them.
We live in unprecedented times (well, not really, but none of us are old enough to remember when things were actually, properly tough), so at the moment the rules are flexible at best and the law is an ass.
You know that anyway.
Just a gentle reminder.

It's irresponsible to encourage 12/13 year olds to cast caution in the bin.

Me too. I've become completely disoriented by working through last weekend, and then being taken out of action on Thursday afternoon by a migraine.
I was watching Rentaghost this evening and trying to work out if the recent shopping trip to Wilkinsons that I remembered was from today or yesterday. (It was today. I went very early which is probably what confused me)

I thought I might explore tentative plans for a romantic winter holiday to Norilsk - the worlds most polluted town with a population of over 170,000, where polar night lasts from November to February.
It's a closed city, requiring a permit approved by the Kremlin to approach, so that's the end of that idea.

Jehovah's Witnesses back out doing the rounds. I've just been disturbed by them on the buzzer asking if I was ready to open my heart to the good news. 'Baruch Hashem' I said - that generally gets rid of them fast. Face to face, depending on my mood I either take The Watchtower and promise to read it later, or tell them I'm a Catholic novice nun in civilian clothing.

Re: What's happening in your life? Part 2
My sons school needs a notarized copy of my divorce certificate. They've already had one. I've been looking everywhere for it, and all I've found in the drawer where I assumed it was is a 'Beauty and Cosmetic Surgery Guide 2014' by Tatler, so I'll have a read through that later.
His birth certificate is the real problem - as I was married at the time, just not to his father, so my previous name and marital status/name at the time is there in black and white - legally it meant his dad had to be written in (the law assumes a husband is automatically the father until it's proved or legally sworn otherwise) after with a sworn affidavit stamped and signed on the certificate itself that my then husband had agreed the child wasn't his, couldn't be, and that divorce proceedings were well underway. So they need the full embarrassing set of certificates that demonstrate why everyone's names are different and who's who.
