They want to clean all the green lichen off that solar-powered Road Narrows - Slow Down sign though
Re: What's happening in your life?
I think I'll take myself off to bed. I was weighing up a night out earlier but couldn't find the energy. Sean should be here about 3/30am so that'll be nice.

That's not showing off. He'll be too tired for anything impressive, but he'll probably get up and get breakfast sorted out before sleeping through much of the day.

See, you're doing it again.
You don't realise you're doing it.

Re: What's happening in your life?
I told you he'd be asleep most of the day. He's back in bed now, exhausted. It's just as well I keep a packet of Tetley for workmen, because he doesn't like decaf Earl Grey. I'm practically dying of heatstroke, the flat is like a sauna because he feels the cold.
I don't understand how anyone can sleep without an eyemask. We have a selection of them (padded, silk, cotton, Holly Golightly, gel, fragrant herb filled, retro airline, etc) in a wicker basket. My son has a Chelsea FC one that had to be specially printed.

I can't sleep with an eyemask. The feeling of something brushing against my eyelids is just too annoying.

I can sleep in broad daylight.
I tried sleeping with my eyes covered once but the total darkness gave me a minor panic attack.

Fangirl - you can get ones that are shaped over the eye area so that doesn't happen. I have a few of these for when I've had my eyelashes chemically permed - they need to remain free to sweep so they don't set in a f*cked up direction.
Wendi - you're very lucky. I've always been envious of easy sleepers.

A fitted black blazer with silk lapels for me tomorrow. I think I'll have Acqua di Colonia on my hair, Jasmin Rouge on one arm, Visa on the other, and Jicky on my skin. Black shirt, black jeans, black shoes, black sunglasses, black belt, black leather shopper, black silk and silver thread Chinoiserie neck rope, titanium watch, a profusion of cheapo metallic bangles, diamond studs. That should be good.
No, not studs. Silver drop earrings with small pearl planets and diamond Saturn rings.

OK I've been invited to the "Guntry" club of Maryland so am now thinking of a way of trolling the "Gun Violence in the USA" thread on ***
No, I shouldn't
It IS a serious thread after all.

My Grandpa has decided to withdraw anything other than palliative care.
He wishes to go home to spend his final days.
I hope I can make it happen for him.

Oh what a decision for him to have to make. That's a very tough thing for you all to be coping with.

Re: What's happening in your life?
This is going to be a tough weekend.
A titanic effort might have to be made so my Grandpa can get home.
I'm feeling defiant and ambitious, but I'm also deeply afraid that if my Grandpa needs more care than I can offer personally (believe me, I won't give up) then the hope that he can die at home might become logistically impossible.
I feel a bit crushed.

Re: What's happening in your life?
That is crushing. It's also emotionally/physically exhausting. How many of you are there? You can't do it all - you'll need to schedule breaks where you are actually resting or out/doing something else completely, however guilty you feel about something that seems selfish on the surface.
The 'should we go home as they want, or leave it to experts with drugs on hand' is a torturous decision with no right or wrong. Moving and handling is a trained skill for good reason - when someone so frail is having to be shifted in all directions it's all too easy to cause them added pain or injury.
That's not to say you shouldn't if it's the decision you all commit to, and with professional support in place after they've assessed every aspect of the situation that you'd want them to. I'm really very sorry. I know how much he means to you. Cut any way, the end stage of a loved life is a very difficult thing.
