Re: Grace Jones - Slave to the Rhythm (1985)
The word, "Filler," is leaping to mind.

Better use of samples, but, it's not going anywhere.

Is this the official video? It doesn't look like it is.

Something wrong with the sound on this one.
It's Davey 'Dave' Gilmour!
Apparently:
Dave: "...I never met Grace Jones. I was approached by Trevor Horn, and went down to their studio SARM East and set up my equipment, and Steve Lipson and Trevor Horn was there. Trevor had a terrible food poisoning and was throwing up every three minutes, lying on the floor trying to produce a record and chucking up into a bin! I think mostly they sampled anything I did into a Synclavier and tried to make some sort of sense out of it later, because he was too ill then, poor chap...."

It's just occurred to me, none of this album has interesting rhythm.

Last track - Ladies and Gentlemen: Miss Grace Jones.

The hit single version of the song is in fact confusingly re-titled "Ladies and Gentlemen: Miss Grace Jones" on the Slave to the Rhythm album.[5] The track "Slave to the Rhythm" on the album is in turn an entirely different interpretation of the song—a fact which apparently eluded Universal Music when they included this version in one of their many best-of packages The Ultimate Collection.

It is over.
I quite enjoyed the first two-thirds of it, in an, "I could happily nod off to this," kind of way but the final third was nothing but blatant padding.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everyone else made of it.
