Homegrown or Shopbought?
Neil Young - Homegrown (1974-1975)
A supposedly lost album, this is due to be officially released tomorrow after a delay of over 45 years.
Whether it will have a Youtube playlist on that date remains to be seen however.
In the event that it doesn't, this thread will have to go into deep hibernation a la the Miley Cyrus album.
But, in the meantime, we haven't done a Neil Young album, so this is as good a place to break the ...

I'm pretty sure I know most of the songs on it in some form or another already.

"Love/Art Blues" would see release live on CSNY 1974, a 2014 compilation of the 1974 tour with "Traces" and "Hawaiian Sunrise".
"Homegrown" was re-recorded with Crazy Horse and released on American Stars 'n Bars in 1977.
"White Line" was recorded with Crazy Horse in 1975 for the unreleased Chrome Dreams and again in 1990 for Ragged Glory.
"Give Me Strength" would see release on 2017's Hitchhiker, a studio album that documents a solo performance by Neil recorded in 1976. It was also released in 2018 on Songs for Judy, a live album of solo performances also recorded in 1976.
"Hawaii" was re-recorded in 1976 and released in 2017 on Hitchhiker
"Bad News Comes to Town" would see new life, this time with a horn section, during Young's 1988 tour with the Blue Notes, captured live on 2015's Bluenote Café.
Trivia[edit]
Additionally, the lyrics of "Florida" were superimposed over the credits for On the Beach on the insert that accompanied the original vinyl release of Tonight's the Night.
I think we've been stood for again havn't we?

Re: Neil Young - Homegrown (1974-1975)
I'm not so sure.
I guess it's a case of releasing an album as it should'f been.
I'm trying not to be too cynical.
I knew that a number the albums after Tonight's the Night and Zuma were somewhat cobbled together.
Zuma might have some offcuts but it's still a proper, coherent album.
Then, Comes a Time aside, Young really fell apart and his releases were just a mish-mash of studio scraps.
Stars and Bars is a shambles for example.
And Rust, and the anaemic Hawks & Doves.

Is this the end of the Album listening threads?
Does that mean it's time for....
Egypt Station?

It can be the end if people wish it to be the end.
It's just that tonight is the first time I'll get to see My Team play since before lockdown.
You's two can do an album when I'm watching the game and I'll just do it after.
Or tomorrow afternoon.
In any event, I'd like to be present for the Maccalbum, so perhaps - if people wish it so, we can do it tommorrow.
