The fridge and freezer thread
As it's a nice hot day I'm defrosting the freezer.
Mindful of previous flooding incidents I have placed a boom of old towels around the open door.

Re: The fridge and freezer thread
I can barely get the freezer compartment door shut.

I don't bother to defrost the fridge properly. I just attack the ice with a hot knife and hack away at it till it's gone.

This leaves my kitchen floor completely covered in chunks of ice.

Which I then scoop up with a brush and pan and fling into the sink.

I have completed defrostification.
Everything went smoothly except I cut myself on a sharp bit of ice.
If this was Game of Thrones I'd be under the command of the White Walkers now.

I've bought a new one.
Too scared to get it out of the box.

Re: The fridge and freezer thread
I also gave my fridge a thorough clean. Even the nasty crungy corners of the shelves.

Re: The fridge and freezer thread
I found out why my fridge was making a rattling noise. One of the drawers was loose and was resonating with the vibrations from the motor.

Re: The fridge and freezer thread
It seems I've inadvertently turned my fridge up to full power.
Now everything in it is frozen solid.
Including my bread, my cheese, my Scotch eggs, my tomatoes and my paté.
Now I have to wait for it all thaw before I can eat.

Is this some kind of tribute to Other Brand Forum Leader and his fridge tribulations
Re: The fridge and freezer thread
A good way to thaw stuff out is to have it out of the fridge and aim a fan at it. Not a fan heater, just a fan.
I accidentally froze a bottle of Samuel Adams once and after 30 minutes of the fan treatment it was liquid once again, and deliciously cold.
