I am a fridgeless household. I have a coolbag which I power with bags of ice from the nearest supermarket. It works quite well, even in summer I only have to re-ice every 2 days.

I buy 2 days' supply of milk, yogurt, quorn sliced 'meats' etc at a time and it doesn't go off.
Cheese can be retained across re-icing days.
