I had a similar experience when I read the post a few posts up, wondering if shelves were made in whatever Tibshelf is. Is the landscape shelved? Like rice paddy fields perhaps? Is that a 'tib' in local parlance? Congratulations to the people of Doncaster - it will change your lives. Build the tibshelves and they will come.

It seems that's the explanation:

Tibshelf
'Tibba's slope/shelf/ridge'.
pers.n. (Old English) pers.n. Personal name
scelf (Anglian) A shelf, a shelving terrain; a pinnacle, battlement.
Somehow I imagine Brian Blessed as Tibba. Instead of selling me coffee or petrol he's cutting my head off with a big sword.

Probably would have been cheaper than a cup of coffee and one of those oversized biscuit thingies though. There is that.

Wait, Dudley was in Worcestershire?

Re: The Sheffieldshire thread
I didn't realise "Pace" was from Dudley.
Yes, the town of Dudley was historically in Worcestershire (along with nearby Stourbridge), though northern parts of what is now the larger Dudley Metropolitan Borough were in Staffordshire, including the part I'm from.
But don't start me. This and the "new" naming of the area, as well as one's identity, was often a hot topic of debate over in that other place.

Isn't Worcestershire quite nice, and Staffordshire very much isn't?

Re: The Sheffieldshire thread
It's definitely better in a Welsh rarebit.

In some people's minds perhaps. Depends where. I'd say there's more wealth in Worcestershire and it wasn't mined like parts of Staffordshire so there aren't the industrial parts like Stoke-on-Trent and the bits of the Black Country. But parts of the Peak District are in Staffordshire, as is the delightful Cannock Chase. Those are nicer than Redditch in Worcestershire, which is simply Birmingham overspill! Though Worcestershire also contains beautiful parts of the Cotswolds - Broadway in particular.
I've always thought of Staffordshire as more "earthy" than Worcestershire - but in a good way. My parents always preferred to associate with the perhaps more snobby Worcestershire name, though I've always felt more of an affinity with Staffordshire.
I did say not to start me.

I've watched many videos about cycling in the last year.
This is by far the dullest one I've ever encountered.
