My two drink-free days in a row are going well so far. This is day 2.

I tried some CBD drops last night. It was interesting, I quite soon wished to prematurely finish my vodka session and go to bed.

I feel weirdly calm this morning. A bit like when you drink a lot during the Christmas holidays, but sleep in for so long that you feel OK when you wake up.

You're not going to turn into one of those 'lol, weed bro' types are you?

In other news I had a vodka at the weekend.

It was nice.

CBD not THC. It's the THC that makes people talk like that. CBD just calms you down.

My whisky decanter is almost gone  The drinking less thread - Page 22 1f62a

It was a quarter full earlier on. It’s a 12 year old double cask MacAllan, so the label I’ve scrawled on the bottom says. But 12 is probably 14, whatever tha5 jeans. So it’s taken ages to get through but I find it smooth. I usually save that one for a Bulgarian friend who visits in the middle of the night, and we drink it together and discuss his goings ons - he’s always been arrested for something.. I haven’t seen him for ages. N must get in touch. He always tries to snuggle rumpus me for sone reason, bit he’s an elderly gay twink so I don’t really understand how that would work exactly.

He’s so charming, full of local customs from his region. He brings painted eggs each Easter.

I’ve had a very depressing da6 where only one of my tasks was completed, and I spent much of the rest of my time arguing about EastEnders with several idiots who don’t appreciate Harriet Thorpe. You can’t account for taste.

I was talking to a friend in Madrid earlier. She has the life I left. Lovely husband. But if a fascist. Franco photos etc in the dining room. Bit very handsome and like me she married the stupid brother which counts for a lot. She was able to learn from my experience - take these small mercies, be grateful they can’t/don’t think, and spend and f*cl with worshipping relish. Don’t leave. You end up looking for replacements everywhere, band theryre never good enough.

Anyway, task - sone wallpaper I’d ordered from a printer in Ukraine has arrived, so I went to collect it. Pastoral scenes mainly. I thought it might cheer up my mother. Kind of toile. We are in the midst of various death anniversaries. While I was out I got the most amazing terrpoxa cot, and a whispa for the homeless man at the bus stop.

Belinda Carlisle on the radio great.

I was just looking up a couple of people before bed. One has been portrayed as a baby, sucking he4 mothers tut in the national gallery. When 8ths 14 or 15 I was seated next to this lady at dinner, and my mother said I’d embarrassed everyone at that end by saying that the bleeding piece of BSE/HIV cow on my plate was concerning to me…

There are no portraits of me, in any galleries, sucking anyone’s body parts, to my knowledge . But I’d embarrassed everyone by discreetly sending it back. I’m going to bring this up.

And there were a couple of other people. My sisters cousin died recently, and I’d always meant to say to her that 8 resented her trying t9hook me up with a loan shark, and I never got the chance. In death she seems to have entered flag draped sainthood, despite having eye bags that could cart all the coal from Newcastle, and having delayed my fathers funeral due to the trial of her son who’d broken his ex girlfriends facial bones.

That really angers me when 8 think about it. Ils5 this woman cook lasagne in my kitchen and send my own mother and brother off in a taxi while I listened to her pitch about why sone thug she knew shouod lend me money. I said nothing, I was so nice. I let her take two watches. Ad I not worried she’d bury me in a shallow grave in the outskirts of Croydon I’d have said no, but as it was I le5 her have them just to her rid with minimal fuss. I think that’s a Liberty that most people wouldn’t allow to be taken.

There is something which I haven’t even addressed in therapy. Since really the first lockdown, I hav3 t been able to look at pictures of my own dead members of family. I can see them framed in the corner of m6 eye even while I type. I know what these portray, I know them by heart. I can’t look eye to eye at them. It bothers me.

Thank you for sharing this heartfelt post.

Is there any significance to all the digits in it? or is that connected to the emptying of the whisky decanter?

After a low-alc start to the new year, I went over the top yesterday and had an extra 2 vodkas.

I'm taking CT's advice upthread and waiting an hour or so to make sure it's worn off before I check out of this hotel.

I’m only drinking alcohol served in drinking venues from now on. I finished off some whisky a week or two ago at home and had a two day headache. I just don’t think I enjoy it - I’d honestly rather have some nice juice or a cup of tea.

I didn't want anything to eat until teatime. That's the last time I have two extra drinks.

Yes, there's always a price to pay.

Actually, there was a period of a few minutes when the last glass was empty where I was warmly satisfied and aware of feeling so. Almost post orgasmic physical bliss. It only lasted until I got up off the sofa and stumbled off to bed.

I had some juice at the pub yesterday - really just a straight orange juice, and only because as I was passing, someone’s Alsatian took a liking to me and they invited me in for a drink.

His sister was also present, and was much cooler with me. Once again, I got to wondering why I don’t like female dogs and why they aren’t that into me either. It’s been a lifelong thing.

Do other people find a similar dynamic in either direction? It’s the same with cats - I don’t really like female cats and they don’t tend to like me much. Male cats seem to have much nicer natures.

I saw a video on YouTube, recently, that said that wolves trust human females but are fearful of human males.

I’ve never met a wolf, I don’t know if I’d be keen to find out. Anyway, the male Alsatian kept giving me his paw, alternating left to right every so often, and stayed next to me the whole time. The female one basically ignored me, and I her.

It’s something I’ve always been aware of. With cats too - male cats will usually climb up and purr if I’m sitting down, while female cats can often spit and hiss. This is most extreme with my uncles cats, where one female even pissed in my suitcase.

With him, the female cats are very attentive and nice. It’s the male ones that leave him to his own devices. Whereas whenever I stay there, there’s one now elderly male who follows me around, sleeps on the bed with me, and insists on sitting on me.

He’ll say Cleopatra, or whatever, (the females are all named after queens) is so sweet, and I think ‘no she isn’t, she’s an aggressively horrible cow’ and my mother agrees with me, but my brother and son will agree with him that she’s really very sweet.
