That was peerless slice of a cake that tasted a bit funny, Mummy.

In summary: early 1974...

The apogee of popular music.

It's like people in the early '70s just submitted to the sense of dissolution and moral chaos that ensued after the hippie dream collapsed with Manson and the 2nd Isle of Wight Festival.

Gert.

Which, I believe was one of the flavours available occasionally in Spangles Old English. yes

type

The Old English Spangles packet contained "traditional English" flavours.

The standard line-up was liquorice (black), mint humbug (brown), pear drop (orange/red), aniseed (green) and treacle (opaque mustard yellow), but other flavours appeared from time to time.

The sweets' individual wrappers were striped, distinguishing them from regular Spangles.

The tube was black, white and purple, and designed for a more mature and sophisticated clientele than the regular variety.
