I found a penny on the stairs in the library a few weeks ago.

What were you doing in our library in Essexshire, some 60 miles from your usual urban haunts?

The obverse is completely unreadable, I have it soaking in some soft drink at the moment. But that coin has been out of circulation for 31 years.
Surely it can't have been there all that time.

In the past few weeks I've picked up countless 1p coins off the floor in random places - and last week in my local shopping centre I found a whole 50p coin which everyone else had been stepping over! Excited

Most of it will end up in a charity shop so I don't feel too guilty.

Like with flibby's coin, but not quite so old, and still in circulation, last year I found a very tarnished 1991 5p coin in the mud when walking in some woods. It looked like it had been in those woods for years. That too got spent in a charity shop.

I saw a penny on the floor in Tescos yesterday but I left it there, cos technically it's property of Tescos.

New Zealandland 2 cents. From the first series of decimal currency coins. Exact same size and equivalent value as a current British penny.
Features flowers from the kowhai tree. As a fliblet they always made me think of miniature people.
