Unfortunately, my laptop can only fo 2.4, meaning I can't do the full mega-fast experience.

AliExpress have emailed me, today, to tell me my phone's now arrived in the country and will be delivered very soon.

It worked well, but it cost me 95p to work for 10 minutes. Just like the old days on Compuserve, except I wasn't working then.
I am now an experienced hotspot user, because the Premier Inn wifi is too unreliable for remote desktopping.
And I've got a better PAYG plan too. I was paying 10p/M before, now it's 0.5p. Or 0.2p if I splash out £20 at a time.

Re: The mobile phone thread
If you use Smarty, you get unlimited data for £20 a month.

My old PAYG supplier is closing down (not surprising given the 10p/M data charge) and I have to find a way of using up my remaining credit, cos you can't get it transferred when you port the number to a new supplier.
All I can think of is sending donation texts to charities? Is there anything else you can do with spare PAYG credit?

Re: The mobile phone thread
I couldn't send any charity donation texts, because apparently my ex-supplier didn't support that.
It took them a whole working week to get back to me with that answer btw. And it wasn't over Christmas either.
In the end I just used up the credit by using mobile data at 10p/M (£100 a gig!)
I have successfully ported my main number to EE. I am now awaiting porting of my backup number to 1pmobile.
I'm not over-optimistic about 1p mobile, because I requested the transfer on Dec 21 and they said they couldn't do it till Jan 5! Tomorrow!
Whereas I put my EE request on on Christmas Day and they did it on the 29th.
In other news, I'm not porting my third number, the one for the decoy phone, because I'm being told that having a push-button phone is now suspicious in itself - the only reason anyone under 60 would have one is as a decoy.
So I'm going to make the backup phone also my decoy phone. I only use it for listening to podcasts anyway.
Obviously please don't tell the police/muggers about the decoy phone as it has to be a secret for the decoy to work.

Re: The mobile phone thread
I've finally got my phones how I wanted them. 1p mobile on my backup/podcast phone, EE on my main/hotspot phone. And with their original phone numbers.
