I'm still on my first iPhone - I think it's an iPhone 5C(?) that I bought secondhand off eBay in 2016. It was probably a couple of years old by then. For ages I thought it was one of the best and most revolutional things I'd ever bought, but for the last year or so it has started struggling with certain apps and websites and now even refuses to download some new apps.

But I don't think newer iPhones do anything that different to the old ones so I don't want to have to fork out £100+ for a newer version, that simply looks a bit newer and runs a bit faster.

My iPhone has also never killed off my wanting to use a traditional laptop.

I also have 4 broken phones - the 2014 one whose demise prompted this purchase, a Tesco phone I bought in 2006 to use when buying my house (I thought the estate agents would spam me), and two Nokia 3310s which I used 2001-2014.

The Tesco phone probably would still work, if I hadn't burst the battery by using the wrong charger.

Only the 3 phones previously referred to actually have SIM cards and credit on them.

Me neither. And I have a tablet as well. And a PC.

Inspired by Wendi's example, I've just used my mobile phone as a hotspot.

It worked well, but it cost me 95p to work for 10 minutes. Just like the old days on Compuserve, except I wasn't working then.

I've recently bought a second hand iPhone 7. I'd had my old iPhone 5c for over 5 years and I've been totally satisfied with it, until recently when it won't update anymore and a number of things don't work on it so it was finally time to upgrade.

Having seen other people's newer iPhones, I always find them fairly underwhelming for several hundred pounds as they didn't seem THAT much different to my old one - a bit bigger and faster, yes, but the icons are exactly the same the whole concept was pretty much the same. Even the ringtones are still the same! So the iPhone 7 seemed enough of an upgrade at not much more than I paid for my old iPhone. And I should at least be able to download some better apps that my old phone wouldn't allow!
