BBC2 or C4.
In all honesty I think you should write it.
Do I have to write it?

Re: The alcohol thread
I have reached perfection of drunk - I've had enough alcohol to be completely Friday night drunk, but not so much that I begin to behave unwisely.
I'm going offline now, in case I get tempted to keep the party going.

Have you written it?

You’re probably the key witness in a terrible murder, and just haven’t realised yet.

Re: The alcohol thread
I am once again just as drunk as I want to be, without being drunk enough to want more. I've really calibrated it perfectly this weekend.

And I don't feel so bad this morning, either.

Do you have a breathalyser of your own? With all these cross country drives and this amount of alcohol use, if not already then I think you can buy them, which might be a good investment.
Edit, sorry, that reads as much blunter than I meant it to. I just don’t want any harm to come to you or to find out you’ve lost your licence.

Re: The alcohol thread
I never drink and drive, ever. I carefully work out the time when last night's drinks will have worn off. I don't even have my breakfast before that time, never mind drive the car. I'm a bit shocked that you think I might.

Re: The alcohol thread
No I don’t mean that you’d drink and drive. I mean you might be still slightly over the limit the next day, which would be very easy to do unless you had a guaranteed way to check. I mean, so many units matched with so many hours of abstinence isn’t fail safe. You might think ‘fine by lunchtime’ but you’re technically not, and then you get pulled over. It happens to a lot of people. It’s why my mother doesn’t drive - she’s a heavy and regular drinker so she just doesn’t have a car because it would be too easy to time wrong. It wasn’t a moral judgement.
I used to have wine with lunch and then get in the car - with a baby/child in a baby/child seat sometimes - and it was only when I came back to the UK that I remembered it was more stringent, and that I couldn’t be absolutely sure I was under the limit. Sometimes I’d have two glasses. Or one large, and think ‘well it’s with a meal, plus I’ll be here for an hour or so, so I can factor that in’. There was really no moral judgement in it. I’m sure they do sell them just so people who have had a lot the previous day can double check for sure.

Yes, I just said be careful if you’re drinking a lot and driving regularly. At this time of year they stop so many people just as a procedural thing. It would be so easy to be marginally still over the limit when you thought it would be safe to drive.
I’m genuinely sorry if Fangirl was offended. I shouldn’t have said anything, but it wasn’t intended to wound or insult her - it came from the opposite place. It’s what I’d say to a friend in person, so I just typed it and didn’t really think until I read it, so then I added the edit.

Re: The alcohol thread
I'm offended on her behalf.
How could you stoop so low, CT?
Making out that the Countess is a murderously irresponsible monster, smashed off her face with gin and poppers and soft-boiled eggs with toasted soldiers?
Really, check yourself.
I'm not the Admin of this forum, but if I was you'd be on one-way road to Banton-Upon-Thames right sharpish and no mistake.

I didn’t do any of that. I didn’t insinuate anyone would get in a car knowingly smashed.

I didn’t. I’m sorry if that’s how it came across. It absolutely was not intended to.
