Re: The NEW, "What's that in your eyeballs?" thread. Part 10
I wonder if anyone's ever done a story that's a mash-up of A Christmas Carol and War of the Worlds?

They are Charles Dickens' two greatest novels, after all.

How would it work?
Scrooge, a miserly small business owner (a Starbucks franchise probably) in Woking, goes to bed after being an Xmas humbug and is haunted by a series of 'tripods' from different historical periods of tripod development (like the Rover P6: 2000, 3500, Series II) that crash into his bedroom and blast him with energy-headlamp beams of varying intensity, temporal relativity and moral nuance that in turn make him realise that...

Scrooge sees Tiny Tim having his blood drained by a Martian and starts to feel bad about having sold the Martians their tripods in the first place.

Scrooge was only rich because Jacob Marley told him the chances of anything coming from Mars were a million to one. So, Scrooge went to the bookies and bet £1 on something coming from Mars. He then phoned up the Martians and got them to invade Earth, so he'd win his bet and be an instant millionaire.

Tiny Tim was on Good Morning Britain this morning. He was so cute. I rang a couple of people to tell them to watch.

Christmas University Challenge is on BBC2 at 7:30.
It doesn't say what's Christmassy about it.
Maybe Jeremy Paxman will introduce himself as Jeremy Paxo.

Forces TV now seems to be showing nothing but old sit-coms.
I fail to see how that ties in with its supposed military theming.
