Re: The Sheffieldshire thread
Thanks to yesterday's Richard Osman's House of Games, I now know that Sheffield's main(?) police station is on a road called Letsby Avenue.
I'd incorrectly guessed it was one of the other fake answers, "Copper Lane".

Re: The Sheffieldshire thread
I reckon that road was given that name deliberately.

Whilst it's not strictly Sheffield (but is probably a part of the Greater Sheffield Metropolitan Built-Up Mega-Region), there's a new video game coming out that's inspired by Barnsley.

The Christmas lights in the shape of a Christmas tree and a star are back on the two giant cranes next to the M1 on the outskirts of Sheffield. There is also a zigzag of lights along the top of each crane. I saw them tonight all lit up in the dark.

Re: The Sheffieldshire thread
The Call of the Wendigo wrote:The buildings on the site were knocked down, nearly 20 years ago, to make way for a fancy new curvy, stripey office block that was never built. Then it was earmarked for the site of the new Channel 4 HQ, if they moved to Sheffield. When that fell through, the site was left vacant, in case the land was needed for HS2.
Now that HS2 isn't going to happen, we can only wait to see what's devised for it.
I think the land belongs to the Scarborough Group which is owned by the former chairman of Sheffield United. The Scarborough Group owns the shiny, glassy new office blocks on the other side of the road from it.

I'm surprised it hasn't got rubbish and old fridges dumped all over it, like every other square inch of free space in other towns have.

That's where I sat in the blazing summer heat on my whistle stop visit to Sheffield earlier this year!
