You need to limit it. It’s not healthy to be using many. There are some very strange people out there, so ideally you want to be choosy about how many of them you invite into your head.

Probably this, Reddit (I've built up 30000 karma points nearly in three years) and a politics one (which I need to update my political party on as I've switched) the only I use. X / Twitter is more social media.

Two I went on, a) I don't watch TV and b) I don't watch the show anymore (EastEnders). Another one, since it became a bit 'left' and focusing on crap, I quit. I think the main owner sold out and anyone who had more 'traditional' views was threatened with warnings or banned.

I use a television based one. I still use it to discuss EastEnders - nobody I know watches it, so it’s a handy outlet for me to talk with likeminded couch potato people. And it’s good for some other topics, plus there are some really sweet characters there. It’s been much nicer since they banned politics, although I was apparently blamed for that change personally by their far right contingent, despite only having joined up a few months before. I was even accused of being a secret agent for an American publishing corporation, deployed to ruin free speech. It amused me, but it’s an insight into how strange people can be.

I did then stupidly join another to specifically talk about politics (despite having clearly recognised a sudden improvement in my mental health since it was banned as a topic on the only one I had been using, so go figure) before realising I just could not be bothered with the trouble. It added nothing to my life, and I actually don’t enjoy arguing in my leisure time. And after being basically thought of as a corporate but Marxist provocateur on one, I was then perceived to be the second coming of Thatcher on the other despite having the same, consistent views. CBA with all that. It’s a very strange disembodied medium.

There is someone who inhabits the model ID request section whom it is generally understood is my nemesis.

Basically, he is an arseh*le with no sense of netiquette (NEVER gives thanks to others in the sub-forum) and an coldly overbearing air of icy fart about him.

I'm told, by my more esteemed colleagues, that he is from Switzerland (I'm assuming it's the Italian bit).

However, despite my normal default 'been there seen that' ignore setting mindset, he occasionally includes (and has done for some time now) a really graphic, explicit and tawdry picture (with accompanying, descriptive text) as his signature.

It's a pr*wn forum, yes, OK, but this is, to me, violently horrid.

Chosen for that exact reason I suspect.

Also, I reckon it's been selected deliberately to bamboozle and afear the higher up mods and admins into thinking they'd be bigots if they made him stop.

I visit a good number of forums and I'm staff on one called Admin-Junkies. I own a few of my own and I'm on Reddit as well. I pretty much use this username everywhere on the internet. My own forum is called TheeZone. I must say I do like that politics aren't allowed here, it's quite refreshing. You see political threads on many different places on the internet, and it can get overwhelming.

I lurk and occasionally post on ILX, where we spend most of our time marveling at the fact that Stanley Baxter is still alive. I ended up here after conducting a serious anthropological study (google search terms "stanley baxter is still alive","stanley baxter isn't dead", etc.) to see if the rest of the internet had the same preoccupation. This seems like a great place! and it's always refreshing to find another forum that hasn't been bought out by Big Steve Hoffman
