I'll give it till tomorrow, and I'll try just creating an empty database on the NAS and then adding the files off my backup drive connected to the NAS's internal USB.

It's all gone horrifically wrong!

I'm going to try one last time, I've deleted* all the files off the server, and I'm going to add the files one letter at a time, just doing all the As now, yes

*Did you know if you're in a remote folder, reset the computer and the terminal comes back up, and you repeat the last command it does it on your home directory?

rm -Rvdf /music/*

Lucky I've backed it all up via timemachine, or I'd be really angry now.

rm -R

I have very rarely been pleased with anything that happened after I typed anything beginning with rm -R.

It should have a dry run mode where it says what it would delete, without actually doing it Colbert

I haz started again. I have created a new, empty, iTunes database on the NAS Drive, and am adding the music bit by bit.

I'm up to BBC Records and Tapes Now. yes

Just looked at the screen remotely, crashed copying over a file, forced quit, now it won't start up again.

I ~~haz~~ have decided I'm still going to move my Home Movies to the external NAS drive, and I'm going to keep it simples, and just use the copy command ever so often.

cp -npRv /Users/steviebaby/Music/iTunes/iTunes\ Media/Home\ Videos /Volumes/Public/Shared\ Videos

If this was a PC I'd set it up as an 'At' command, but I don't know how to do that on at SMac

I use rsync for that sort of thing, it's much more reliable once you've learnt the syntax

rsync -urlpt -v /users/steviebaby/homeMovies/yeahRight/ /nas

and if you change -v to -vn it'll do a dry run for you, like I was saying above.

Actually thinking about this, I was thinking of putting the 'Home Movies' into different 'themes', which means it won't work.

I'll make sure everythings backed up nicely before I get all fancy yes
