It was like listening to a contest to see which writers could come up with the worst lyrics ever.

I was listening to Radio 2 last night and they had a documentary on about Bobbie Gentry, which was very informative.
However, they played bits of several tracks from her first album and they all sounded exactly the same as that song.
No one commenting in the documentary mentioned this. For some reason, it bothered me that they didn't mention this, especially when they kept going on about her not having the commercial success she deserved. I kept thinking, "All her songs sounded the same. Is it a mystery that she struggled to have a follow-up hit?"

Her follow-up single to that single.

Tina Turner should have covered this one.

That one sounds like the theme tune to Phoenix 5, therefore, I approve.

Anyhow, I have decided she was very good but not initially blessed with the largest musical palette with which to paint her musical pictures.

I too heard a bit of that documentary, only it was a repeat in the early hours of the morning. They played a song she sang about bugs. It was quite strange.

The travel guy on Radio 2 just called it Char-ing Cross. As in burnt wood-Ing Cross. not Charin-g cross.
Which I'd never mentioned it now.
