Re: What are your neighbours up to?
I know what you mean, BTW.
I've had to do it plenty of times in my life.
Do you feel better afterwards though?
I imagine you do it firmly and assertively (despite getting the leggywobbles) though.
If so then it should have a more powerful effect than you imagine.

Re: What are your neighbours up to?
Once my legs stop shaking I do feel better, yes.
I am careful always to be firm but polite.
Whether it works or not this time remains to be seen. I have to take my car to be MOT'd tomorrow, and I've got someone coming to park in my space while I'm away to stop anyone pinching it.
Ironically I booked the MOT for tomorrow because 3 weeks ago Mrs Neighbour promised the builders would have finished inside a fortnight.
I shouldn't have believed her, because she made a similar prediction when they were here last autumn doing their bathroom, and they overran then too.
I hope to goodness I'm no longer living here by the time next year's MOT comes round.

Do their builders observe the strict legal working time limits imposed uniformly across the nation and enshrined in immutable law BTW?
8am-6pm: Monday to Friday.
8am-1pm: Saturday.
No building whatsoever on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Re: What are your neighbours up to?
They've had another bloke round this morning hammering away and blaring a radio.
Not content with ruining my week off earlier this month, they're obviously determined to ruin my bank holiday weekend too.

Re: What are your neighbours up to?
If I do that, then I have to report a dispute with the neighbours when I sell the house.
And selling the house is going to be hard enough without an extra handicap.
I appreciate your solidarity though
Also, I have been reminded (by my conscience) that some years ago I had my dad's friend come round and do re-pointing on a Sunday and bank holiday Monday. I'd be raging if my neighbours did that now.

Re: What are your neighbours up to?
Earlier this afternoon I noticed my neighbours carrying a cooker to the road end of our shared side passage, which I own and they have a right of way over. And they left it there!
I realised that the time had come to assert myself, so I put my coat on, I did, and I went out and I said to Mr Neighbour, 'Excuse me, I want a word with you please' and I asked him to explain himself or else I would forbid him to leave it there.
He said it was his side passage, not mine, so I said he should look in the deeds and he would find I was correct.
Then he said the council were coming to pick it up tomorrow, so I said he could leave it there till then. But that he still should have asked me first.
My legs were all wobbly afterwards, but that's a good sign, it usually means I've done the right thing.

Well done. If it's your side passage yet he thinks it's his you really need to keep a check on things. I'm surprised he doesn't know what he doesn't own!

Re: What are your neighbours up to?
I spent £6 at the Land Registry this morning to download their title documents and plan, and they confirmed what my title documents say, that the side passage is mine. All mine.

Don't think I won't spend £6 to check that I'm in the right, cos I will.

Re: What are your neighbours up to?
Wasn't Sid James's first ever line in a Carry On (Constable) something to do with "popping round to check on a Mrs Watkins who'd been complaining of a disturbance at the rear end of her premises"?
