One of mine kicked his door in at 2am over the weekend. The noise was unreal. Then he staggered upstairs to explain himself and attempt an apology (I may have been out on the landing,screaming and shouting). I presume he's either dead or has forgotten about it, because I haven't heard anything since.

One bonus of the neighbours' building work finishing is that they've stopped putting that NHS KEY WORKER cone in the road. I wonder if they've sensed that the national mood has changed since April?

Of course, now I've said that, they'll probably start doing it again.

My neighbours have left loads of bags of peat in the side passage.

This is all clearly being sent as a challenge from the gods to test me. If I make it to selling the house without murdering my neighbours, I will have passed, and be admitted to the shining city on the hill.

They weren't bags of peat, they were bags of smokeless coal. He took them in last night. But he left behind the invoice, so I posted it under his gate.

Today he was drilling holes in a tree stump and talking light-heartedly to the other neighbour. Then he looked up and saw me watching them balefully from my back window doom canary

My neighbours started their cone nonsense again when the shutdown started.

The people on the other side of them had a parcel delivered at 8am today. On a Sunday!

My cone neighbours have put blue plastic over the roof of their garden hut thing. No doubt this means yet more disruption to my home working, with roofers coming with pots of hot tar and so on.

One good thing about all this, I suppose, is that I'd already decided to move a year ago. If I'd still wanted to stay, the events of the last 8 months would have shattered me I think.

My fears have been realised - this afternoon I saw Mrs Selfish Neighbour showing the hut to two burly builders.

I'm not downhearted though, I'm pleased that all my hard work presenting the house has been well timed. All that painting and decluttering and carrying stuff to the storage place at 7am.

I time my first morning walk to the storage place so as to leave before Mr Selfish Neighbour goes to work, so I don't have to see him. But this morning he was early, and I was just putting on my rucksack and picking up my crates to depart when he came out, so we walked down our garden paths at the same time.

When he saw me he hung back warily, evidently thinking I was coming to confront him. But of course I just walked disdainfully away up the road towards the storage place.

That man has got a guilty conscience sad yes

When I got home from the storage place this morning, I found the selfish neighbours' cone on the pavement in front of my house.

I thought 'Like, no way am I putting up with this' and I boldly videoed myself moving it along the pavement to in front of their house.

And I put a note through their door explaining what I'd done.

I got a note back saying 'Obviously someone else must have moved it. Thank you for putting it back' which I thought was a bit passive-aggressive, but I left it there.
